One of my very favorite flavors in the world is vanilla!!! People sometimes think of vanilla as plain or ordinary, but it is anything but that. Fresh, real vanilla has an amazingly complex flavor… in fact some people may not even realize that there are many different kinds of vanilla with varying flavor undertones. OK, you get the idea, I LOVE vanilla!
So, I was beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to try some products from Beanilla, a company who has been selling fine vanilla and other flavors since 2005.
I received the following lovely assortment of flavors to try:
Madagascar Vanilla Extract (Single-Fold 1X)
Smooth rich and creamy. Madagascar vanilla is a favorite among chefs around the world. This traditional type of vanilla adds an incredibly full flavor to any style of dessert.
Natural Lavender Flavor
Lavender has a penetrating, floral, and spicy aroma with notes of mint and lemon. It’s versatile flavor has the ability to blend with decadent desserts as well as savory dishes too.
Natural Brandy Flavor
Oak, pear, wine and caramel flavors define this premium Brandy Flavor.
Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans are superior, with flavor and aromatic qualities that make these beans the most popular and sought after vanilla variety. The flavor is rich, dark and creamy with an overwhelming sweet, buttery aroma. These are well suited for many baking recipes, drinks and desserts. We know you will agree that our Madagascar Vanilla Beans are the best in the world!
I will tell you there is a huge difference between grocery store quality artificial flavorings, and quality natural flavorings! The products I received from Beanilla are amazing high quality flavorings!
I do a lot of baking and cooking from scratch, and do my best to try to always use premium ingredients. If I am going to take the time to cook, I want to eat GOOD food! That said, I put these amazing flavorings to the test in a totally off the wall way.
I was super short on time this week, and needed a nice dessert with ZERO time to make it. So, I decided to throw together a much less than from scratch treat. On the way home I grabbed a cheap bag of sugar cookie mix and some Cool Whip cream cheese whipped frosting. There is nothing wrong with some good ol’ sugar cookies, but my goal was to make them something a little more special.
I added 2 teaspoons of Madagascar Vanilla Extract (Single-Fold 1X) to the cookie dough. I was hoping for a VERY vanilla cookie. After sticking the cookies in the oven, I started sprucing up the frosting. I got two containers of the Cool Whip cream cheese whipped frosting. I decided to make one container a brandy flavored frosting and the other lavender. The lavender flavor is a bit more intense than the brandy. The frosting comes in 10oz tubs, and for the brandy flavor I added 3 teaspoons of flavoring to the tub. The lavender I added just 2 teaspoons to the 10oz of frosting.
The cookies came out tasting amazing, even without the frosting! The vanilla flavor was intense, but not overpowering. With cheap vanilla flavoring you will sometimes get a bitter alcohol taste when used heavily in a recipe… with Beanilla vanilla you just get natural vanilla!
The frosting turned out beyond amazing! It did NOT taste like something that came out of the grocery store freezer case. The flavors were sophisticated and rich. I personally LOVED the lavender, but my guests were simply crazy for the brandy flavor.
I am positive that no one guessed that I cut corners with a baking mix and store-bought frosting. My quickie cookies tasted home-baked or like they came from a very nice bakery! Thanks Beanilla!
Now, for the fun part, one lucky reader is going to win some great product from Beanilla! The lucky winner will receive a vial of 3 premium grade A Madagascar Vanilla beans and a 4oz bottle of Madagascar Vanilla extract.
